Anyone use a Scorpion Helmet?

just curious if anyone has had good or bad experiences with it? I tried one on a BHY and it fit great, i like the retractable sunguard too. the exo-1000 is the one i was looking at.

thanks in advance.

A bit on the heavy side but I dont really notice it. Honestly I dont use the flip down sun visor very much. Its not dark enough to make a difference and it distorts my vision. Ill use it if im riding on the freeway into the sunset, but otherwise I stick to the clear visor.

I cant really feel that the vents work very well. what does work AWESOME is the visor lever that can lock closed or prop open a little bit. (that adds awesome ventilation)

The space around my ears I think is contributing to a lot of the wind noise. I ride with ear plugs anyways so its a non-issue.

The inflatable cheek pads are nice but I just dont use them very often.

Looks wise they are good, wish they had some better graphics. I went with the glossy black.

All in all, Im happy with it, but not overly impressed. I think Ill save up and buy a nice Arai next time.

Bottom line on Scorpions (IMO):
THEY DON'T FOG. That alone, to me, is worth it's weight in gold. Take your "Fog-resistant" shield somewhere else, XXXX-brand...
Don't even think about a exo-400. Polycarb. shell is NOT going to hold up in a crash like the [$30 more] exo-700 fib/glass shell. Firsthand experience w/both.
then run smaller than most helmets, but their liners compress more than just about any other helmet. Moisture-wicking liners kick ASS, they work beautifully.
the 1000 has awesome features, but yeah is on the heavier side.
700 served me beautifully, being catapulted headfirst onto the pavement around 30....no cracks, no head injury/trauma, nada. Just my $.02, look no farther than a 700 for Scorpion....get a smoked shield if ya want the 1000 visor so much, you'll like it more in the long run...

hey idk if i ran into when you came in or not, but i'd be happy to give you a hand w/them (or lids in general) next time you stop by... my name's Michael, I'm pretty much the only guy in apparel at BHYS...don't work Fri/Sat

+1, we sell a shitload of them here, w/o a doubt our #1 selling helmet. can't beat the "bang for your buck" value of them, but it sucks that the 1000 is approaching like $360+ these days....damn at least lighten them up if ya wanna charge Shoei price...

My budy has one and the slide down shield keeps breaking and they dont have alot of ventilation.

Save up and buy an Aria, Shoei, AGV.

Used my brother-in-laws last year on a ride. Didn't like the way the visor functioned.
But if you are buying a new helmet I would buy a good one. I learned my lesson. Ya kind of get what you pay for. You can pay alot of money just for graphics and finish so check out the different models and prices.

oh yeah I forgot to mention the fog free shield is the shit! and the padding may feel tight brand new but it stretches out quite a bit once broken in so get one that fits really tight out of the box.

I LOVE my Scorpion. Believe it or not there is some science behind it. I know the neurosurgeon who helped develop the helmet, and he is the only one I would let in my brain. After talking with him I was sold. I even crashed in mine and did not know I even hit my head until I saw the side of it.
I do agree the visor breaks easily with the on off stuff, mostly the side plastic things the visor clips into. But if you call Scorpion they send you the stuff to fix it for free. Their customer service is pretty good if you call them.
The no fog is the shiznit. And the memory foam padding makes it pretty comfortable and quiet.

I F'in LOVE my Scorpion! I use it WAY more than my Shoei! I bought a mid ranged Scorpion so perhaps it better than the people in this thread who didn't like em...but I swear to ya man, the scorpion is more comfortable for those long rides (especially when we do Wind River, St. Helens, Fossil, etc...where your in your helemt for 6+ hours), the wind noise is quiet(er) and wtf they did to get the no fog thing...they got it nailed, cause I RARELY get fog in there. Unlike my Shoei yesterday, at 62 degrees it was fogging ALOT when I'd exhale.
Also, I called them and have to agree with Kitty, their customer service is hassle free and they'll do as much as they possibly can. Make sure you get a Snell and DOT approved helmet...and the rest is just up to how it feels/fits on your noggin. Good lick (luck) man! :)

I had an exo 700 and other than it not being an arai ( unfortunately I'm very brand oriented) and it being on the heavy side I loved it! if there was an arai/suomy emblem on it I probably would have stuck with it. it was very comfortable, NEVER fogged. I did feel as if the aerodynamics from the suomy and my arai are MUCH better. I took it to my first track day and it felt like it was going to get sucked off my head going down the straight. I would be willing to say for the money it is the best helmet you can get. I'm not a fan of the exo-1000 though

My partner and I both have Scorpions (EXO-400). He went down in his last year and it did it's job very well. Mine is tighter on my head than my Shoei but I don't wear it that much, so it probably just needs to be broken in.

Scorpion makes a nice helmet case. I use it to transport my Shark RSR-2.
